Post The Last Ferdinand; Fahrgestell Nr 150100
Once again I anger the soviet mafia by making some German stuff... to be fare this was a disaster of a tank destroyer and many just cought fire as soon as the tried go over a small hill. So maybe Mr. Porsche was on the Russians side? :)

This is the vehicle i am making, on the factory floor. I plan on putting some greenery on it and maybe have a paint bucket and brush next to it.

It was the last Ferdinand produced, and was decorated by the workers before being painted. the vehicle was all red-primer with the wheels and gun being yellow as they where delivered form another factory.

I really wanted to do this color scheme, and the graffiti really drew me as a human touch. also once i add the greenery of the wreaths and trees, and the brass shells propped up on the deck... it will look very striking ;)

I purchased the cyber-hobby kit and got to work pretty quickly, sorry i didn't start this blog from the beginning but it really was a straight forward build. I am doing this STRICTLY out of box, so it went pretty quick. I started this one night watching tv, did a bunch at a little modeling get together in austin, and finished the bulk of it over thanksgiving (this is my TANKSGIVING tank ;) )

What is funny is that the kit comes with a bunch of pioneer tools and extras, but the factory tank had none of that! the jack, jack blocks, spare tracks, pioneer tools, and event the periscopes where installed after it was painted.
This made the build go even faster, since I didn't have to worry about all those little things. My spares box is now full of extra very nicely done parts ;P

I did not use the photoetch fenders since I really just wanted a relaxing build; the photoetch didn't seem to really have that much extra detail over the plastic fenders. If I was doing a tank in the filed with damaged fenders I would use the photoetch.

I still have a few things to fix up, some little photoetch bits and such. The build is 99% done and will be ready to paint soon.
The tracks, wheels, sprockets, barrel, etc are all loose, if you see the tracks floating a bit trust me i will be gluing them down ;)

Nice Start/build Aaron - as a machine it's got a very modern look about it

Watching with interest (Wish I could nearly build a model in a day :? )

Nice work Aaron!

The chalk marks over primer will be awesome on this.

It will be nice to see this finished. I have one built with the paint on but have not tackled all those decals yet. I'll be interested to see if you do a dio with this? Pam
