 A tractor, a Trailer, 2 Jeeps and a Madman
This one's going to take a while..... My latest hotel project has outgrown the hotel phase and I still have more hotel time ahead of me, a lot more hotel time. So I'm going to blog several vehicles at once. The two Jeeps will build up pretty quickly and will probably be done from the bench at home. The High Speed Tractor however will see a lot of airport x-ray machines. I've started with Jeep #1 It's a Jeep! You've seen one before. You've built one before. And until Dragon or Bronco or Hobby Boss produce a nicer one, we will all keep building the same 1997 Tamiya Jeep. Truth be told, this is still probably one of my all time favorite models to construct. I can usually get one together in about 3 hours of solid work if I don't deviate from an out-of-box construction. This required two hours and I will now deviate and use resin from Plus Models. (I bought the aftermarket set while in Moscow and the price shown is in Rubles.) I like the "FIRESTONE" cast into the resin, but Tamiya makes a better detailed wheel. I'm still planning to try the resin however. A brief word on the tractor. This kit was provided to me by a very generous Steve Reid who happened to have a couple in his basement and took pity upon me when he learned that I wanted one and was unable to find it at the AMPS show a couple months back. Thanks Steve! The wheels you see in the bag were also provide by a very generous Steve Reid . They will go on the scratchbuilt trailer for which I haven't even yet got a set of plans. I'll burn that bridge when I get to it. Thanks for watching and standby for the "madman"---I'm sure you've come to a correct conclusion about that one by now.

John, check the tractor box, make sure Steve actually gave you the instructions as well. Looks like an interesting project and I think I've got your story all figured out. I'm not going to say though, because I don't want to give it away to everyone else. Matt

Great start John! That is a pile of kits! Two jeeps, a trailer, and the tractor, there is a bridge and a figure as well.... Sounds like about 5 years worth of work by my standards- and you have the Sci-Fi walking tank in progress at the same time. Matt- remember this time of innocence.... Steve
