Ditto to Steve's praise --- WOW! Mind-blowing work, Shaun...

I've had this kit for a couple of years and have always wanted to backdate it with the earlier launch tubes and attempt that wild-looking zebra pattern... Amazin' job!!

Great work on the figures, too --- never understood why we haven't seen a PTO figure set in typically casual dress (shorts, no shirt, t-shirts, etc.). Good use of the Tamiya 25 pounder crew!!

Can you tell us what references you used for the pattern and mods on the boat?

Thanks, Shaun --- keep up the awesome work!

Regards and Aloha,

Johnny B.

Hi
Glad you like the build.
Steve Yeh It's my favorite build so far. :D
Johnny I've a folder somewhere in the shed I'll see if I can find it & I'll pm the info to you.
As for the figure's Yes please to a Pacific set in casual poses not just for the boat would be great
for general usage. MB, Miniart, Dragon Please. ;)
The Zebra striped idea I've had from a kid. I have an old Ballantine's Illustradted History of WW2 weapons book on PT Boats & there's an image of 1 of the boats. But didn't want to build it in 1/72 scale & when Italeri released the 1/35 kit that was it, jumped to the front of the queue.
months of trailing the net & joining a couple of PT boat sites I gathered the info needed. that's when I decided that it had to be built out of the water so that the whole boat could be built. (Thanks to John Wayne in They Were Expendable)
Vinnie Thanks for letting Me repost this on this site . :D What a surprise I got when I logged on this morning & saw that it had been posted. Thanks Again Vinnie.

Hi Shaun

Really good to see this famous build again. I liked it when I first saw it and I find that I like even more now. Excellent stuff. Any plans for more boat builds?

Cheers

Karol

Hi
Tony thanks glad you like it.
Karol Yep I've a made up PT boat that I picked up at a carboot sale. I'm going to strip it down of paint etc & the rebuild as the PT174 boat again but in the paint finish & armourment that it ended the war. ( Someday ;) ).
Probably No diorama for that version.

Wow Shaun that's brilliant, never really realised how large those boats were, that dazzle pattern camo must have hurt your eyes while applying it!
