What was your favourite new model release of 2011?
Looking back at last year’s new releases there were some fantastic models that became available, with Dragon continuing to push the engineering boundaries with their WWII Axis releases, Bronco’s eclectic and inspired subject matter and MiniArt’s figures, trucks and diorama bases. So from all the releases, what was your favourite, and why?
For me I think I’m going to have to go with Meng’s Hilux Pickup truck. For me this was a brave move by a new company, but it also filled a gap (1:35 scale civilian vehicles) that is woefully under-represented.
Cheers, Ian

Thats a tough one, Meng is up there for great releases (love the minenroumer and the new merkeva has me excited) Dragon had the Japanese float tank, that was a surprise... I have to go with the T-90 from zvezda. it technically came out in December

Didn't know that was in the works AaronSmischney wrote: I have to go with the T-90 from zvezda. it technically came out in December Great choice! One of my Club members has that kit and he thinks it is fantastic. Really accurate and well engineered. Cheers, Ian

It's got to be the two MiniArt Soviet GAZ trucks, both the two and three axle versions.

Overall I'll stick with the Revell Routemaster, so much bang for your buck. I can't wait to start mine. In terms of military stuff, I'll go for 5 Star's ( God that sounds so 80s) 10TP - agonising about getting this as a birthday present for myself Cheers Karol

Mmm. Surprised myself when I thought about this as I did not pick a single Dragon offering Tamiyas mustang is high on the list, as are a few Bronco offerings, Amusing Models release is a good kit and I like the look of the Panda MATV. Likewise Hobbyboss had a few nice kits and Afv Club had a few beauts, but ultimately I came down with the Hobbyboss 1/72 Dora.

I'm struggling to think what was released in 2011 already I think I have to go with HobbyBoss' Landrovers simply because they are well engineered and so long overdue. Chris

Wow, so many. I'd have to go with the Bronco Diane and Archer. I think it was 2011 for them. So many great releases from all the companies last year. I've been wanting a Diane since I first saw a kitbash of one way back in the 70's when someone did it on the Tamiya Sdkfz 7. Not entirely accurate, but it still looked neat. Looks like a good year coming up as well. Doug
