Matt

Nice pics - thanks for sharing - if this is the contest that "Setting the Defense" cane second I was hoping to see the winner?

That shark dio was really left-field though nicely painted :) I liked it
Really nice Czech (?Slovak) Fishbed and that skeletal airframe Piper - Wow

I didn't think the armour matched the standard of the planes

Thanks
Rob

Nice report Matt & Devin!

Good looking ships, armor, aircraft, sci fi...

Did the raffle prize kits come with instructions?

Exactly what I was thinking. Some stunning models and a nice write up Matt.

Nice report Matt :)

I really like the 1/35 Gato class sub

Also the P-3 Orion, we still have these here in NZ, they make up 1/4 of our air force

Good report Matt :D

Must agree the armour seemed to pale with the the excellent aircraft kits on show.

What did you manage to take home for yourself? Are you hiding it all from SHMBO?

I know I have too

Cheers

Steve H

Thanks for the comments guys.

Steve R., yes they did come with instructions, even better, no one stole said instructions after the fact! :x

Steve H., take a look here for the photographic evidence of what I brought home. I actually didn't hide the stuff from SWMBO, not enough room to do so!

As to the standards of the armour and the aircraft, they were closer than the pictures make them appear. The hall was pretty dim, so I ended up having to take pictures with flash. With a little point and shoot camera like I have, that is death for any kind of subtlety in the finish and by extension, weathering. Since armour models tend to be significantly more weathered than aircraft, the loss of subtlety in weathering has more of an effect, resulting in the aircraft appearing to have better finishes. The Spanish Civil War T-26 on the first page is a great example, that was a really nice model with a finish that reminded me a lot of Vinnie's work. The picture surely doesn't show that. :? So, sorry for the pictures.
