 Re: MUSEUM VISIT: Patriots Point
I love these walk-through style museums, up and down stairs, through cramped corners, below the engine decks! They have a similar tour available in San Diego on the USS Midway. It's three hours to walk through the whole thing. But you get to see the ship from anchor chain room in the bow all the way back to the gift shop at the fantail.
The submarines are perhaps the most interesting. The idea that 40 guys stayed in there continually for 6 months at a stretch, unbelievable.
I sometimes wonder if NASA at least considered using submariners as astronaut candidates.

Also of note a PP is a recreation of a Vietnam era fire base. Shades of M.A.S.H.!!!!!!

 Re: MUSEUM VISIT: Patriots Point
Shawn,
Cool report, thanks for that. I was in Charleston once years ago for a friend's wedding and while I saw these ships out in the harbor I didn't have a chance to visit.

Sad to say Matt, that if it had have been me, I would have been drawn to the ships and probably missed the wedding! Vinnie

 Re: MUSEUM VISIT: Patriots Point
The wedding itself was in the suburbs, we were only downtown for the celebrating, so, there was important business to deal with. Plus, it was late, so, they probably wouldn't have appreciated a visit. Matt
