 Soldering
Thanks to Gary showing us how 'easy' soldering PE is, I thought I would have a dabble. I found this at my local B&Q hardware store for around £22 ($35 US, $33 Australian) All the bits allow it to be used as a flame torch or soldering tips used with an adaptor supplied. The long pin bit is for cutting polystyrene and there is a wedge shaped one labelled as a 'hot knife' The gas is standard lighter refill and will run for about 60 minutes (or so it claims, i doubt it to be honest) but who wants it burning for an hour? Adjustment from low To high (good impression of a jet on afterburner) I have done a bit of soldering, just tagging really, of some PE for the Merkava and it is a bit blobby but I only have the multicore solder that came with it which is a bit thick. I have to say it was a bit scary but I am happy with the result for a first go. I need to get some solder paste but I am confused as, looking online, I found some 'Solder Paste' but on reading the description, it appears to be cleaning flux. Then I found lead free and leaded paste so which do I get? I must go back and read the tutorial for more info .

 Re: Soldering
Hi John I got mine from ebay, quick service and although the tub looks small, the price is not bad and it will last for years assuming it does not go off lol. It is also free post. the link is http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270532380756&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT#ht_2050wt_907

 Re: Soldering
Hello Graham, to stop it from going off, well prolonging the process anyway, Aaron mentioned to me to leave it in the fridge. If the Mr's lets you that is! Woody...

 Re: Soldering
That is the trick Woody. The pack states storage between 5 degrees and something else, however, our fridge is set at 3 degrees but when I get another pot for bulk storage, I will put it in the top of the fridge until I need it, in about 20 years time lol
It is good value compared to some I have seen Vinnie, I will certainly be getting another to put away but the pot will last for ages.
