Post Acrylic paint removal
I've got a spot where the Vellejo acrylic paint has built up too thick and obscured some detail. What's the best way to remove paint from a small area without needing to strip the whole figure?

Thanks,

John

Vallejo airbrush cleaner with a stiff brush - BUT the problem is how much you remove because it always leaves a "lip" between old and new layers

Difficult.

Like Rob, I've been trying to think of a method but failed. The problem is that Vallejo paints contain an awful lot of plasticizer, so that when it dries it's more like a layer of plastic than paint, so removing a small area is like trying to peel off a small part of a coating. Hence the lip Rob refers to. I honestly think that if you want to persist in just removing a small area, you're better off trying some solvent such as Tamiya thinner applied with a fine brush to just the area you need removing? Take some doing though?

Thanks Vinnie,

The spot to be removed was on a Hornet head. We all know that plastic cement doesn't work on resin. So I stripped the face with M.E.K. being careful not to get any on the plastic figure. Worked a treat!
