Thanks Jim

While the AVRE Bridgelayer may remain naked, this one is definately getting a coat of 4BO :D

Very nice indeed! It's always a pleasure to catch up and see what you've done now! :)

It's a very 'German' looking vehicle isn't it? Does this mean you're finding your way back Gary? :P

The pull of the Dark Side is strong but I will, nay, must resist......

And before you ask Vinnie, no I'm going going to wreck this one by adding black crosses to it :P

The saw and its brackets are made up....

In the kit, you get the choice of a turned metal 85mm or one piece IM 100mm gun. I'm using an RD Model 100mm on this. You can certainly see how much size difference there is between the two calibres....

Dry fitted to the hull....

Image

Work has also begun on the hatches. Plenty of PE hinges here

Image

One down side is a lot of the PE hinges lack any welds so I'm adding them using stretched sprue....

Image

Driver's hatch. Some great detail here by Voyager - so much so I couldn't not add it  Plan will be to have the hatch slightly open. Enough to spot the detail, but closed enough to not see the empty void inside ;)

Wreck it? Oh...you mean improve it. New Zealand = everything upside down and back to front. Gotcha. ;)

That hatch detail is insane. Brilliant job!

Gary,
I've been catching up with this and appreciating a really nice build. Very sharp!

But, I seem to have steered you wrong on the engine deck covers.
You see, it was only Factory 112, Krasnoye Sormovo that continued to use the early style cover throughout its production. All others, including UZTM, adopted the simplified cover, the type provided in the kit.
I apologize for the confusion!

BTW, and after screwing you up on the covers I'm almost afraid to ask, what brand of solder paste do you use and do you use a torch or soldering iron? I just have not had any luck with this stuff and your work is really nicely done!

Mark, take a look here. It should answer most of your questions.
