 Re: AFV Club LVT-4
Nice job Steve. I really like the look of the unpainted angle iron you've achieved.

Vinnie Thanks, Vinnie. Wasn't nuttin' to it. Just a little Tamiya Metallic Grey. I was going to try and simulate burnt metal from welding, but then....nah...too small.

 Re: AFV Club LVT-4
All righty then…moving right along. The Bison decals finally arrived. I selected the set for an LVT-4 for the Iwo Jima Invasion. It lists it as an unidentified unit. I’ll have to do some more research to see which unit this vehicle might have belonged to. I faded the paint by using Mig Pigments. European dust and light European dust to fade the brown. Concrete to fade the yellow and green. Then I gave the entire vehicle a generous coating of Sand pigment. When I was stationed in Diego Garcia, we had some LCM’s that were used for primarily for shuttling supplies out to the ships in the lagoon. But they were also used as charter fishing boats outside the lagoon. Not a very good ride, I can tell you, even in calm seas. Anyway….there was this coral sand that covered everything and got everywhere and was ground into the paint. What was haze grey originally, looked dang near sky grey from all the sand. That’s what I tried to replicate here. Here, I tried to make it look like the interior had been wet and then dried out from the sun.

Nice weathering Steve Not sure if you can do anything about it, but the track looks a little too loose in the first pic. Gary

 Re: AFV Club LVT-4
The effect of "ageing" is very good, I like the result, color camouflage now don't look sharp.

 Re: AFV Club LVT-4
Hey Steve, as the other guys have already said, the weathering has really toned down the camo scheme - now looks awsome! I really like the effect you've acheived in the loading area (inside) as well
Well done - great result
Cheers for now Mike

Hi Steve,
great weathering, I like the washed out look you've achieved.
