Yeah, the wood looks great Yngve :D

I really like how you look to mother nature to supply you with diorama accessories

Looking forward to more progress

Andrew

Great start mate, lovely size base as well, amazing what can be scrounged up around the house. Had a close look at the picture in your first post, looks like a long barrel with a pierced housing, maybe a captured SVT-40 semi automatic rifle or a DP-28 light machine gun. See http://ww2rustc.www5.50megs.com/weapons.html. Or perhaps it could be a Finnish Lahti L-39, 20mm anti-tank rifle, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lahti_L-39. The first two wouldn't be an issue to source but good luck if it's the latter, still probably something else entirely.

cheers Simon

Thanks Simon. I`ll do some more searches, but I might go for the Dp-28,coz I have one of those somewhere in the stash.
I solved the lack of depth problem with the base by stacking several of the choco box lids ontop of eachother. Next up now while waiting for a solution for the spent ammo problem to arise,I`ll start cleaning and assembling the figure and get ready a bunch of ammo boxes :)

Yeah that looks about right mate, maybe Steve could kindly cast a few of the ammo drums for the DP as well, if you ask nicely! The shape of the base actually really suits the scene keeps it all nice and compact.

Thanks guys :) Im having a look through my stash for ammo boxes and ammo drums today, and if I cant find enough I might have to ask Steve to cast some,,,Im sure he is up for it(specially when I mention that I maybe have some soviet militaria I could trade ;) )

I put together the figure last evening. I didnt use the figure I first intended too but swapped it with a more suiting one from the same figure-set. I tried to sharpen some details, but its more difficult than Vinnie makes it look like, but at the end of the evening I started to get the hang of it. I still need to fill a few tiny gaps on it,and try make a patch for his eye..

Figure looks really good Yngve, nice natural pose. I agree Vinnie does make it look easy, but you seem to have got the hang of it by the looks of this, guess it's all down to practice.

Yngve, I actually built one of these MG bases for the scene below. Which I've decided looks incredibly boring now because of what you're doing with yours. 'm going to have to build a new base for it now.
