Re: Italeri Sd. Kfz 232 6 RAD
Hi and sorry for the delay, been a bitch of a weekend. I have only got pictures if the bodywork of the vehicle made up, less the turret which is still in progress. Fit of parts was pretty good apart from the wheels and the hatch doors all needed a little tinkering with. My main problem has been adding weld beads where there shouldn't be any, you'll see in the pictures. I have spent rather a lot more time removing these and trying to retore the body work than it took me to apply them. I haven't placed the front grill on yet, need to sort out how to mask it so the radiator detail is still visible after painting. Note the prominent weld beads! On the underside you can see where I have replaced the rather chunky mud flaps with brass ones. I'm unsure about adding brake pipes and stuff under here as I have no idea where it runs, I'd like to but there is niot a lot of point if it's all wrong. Some detail shots now, sorry they are so dark. I replaced most of the stowage box lids with brass, making the hasps and padlocks for each one. Not sure if this adds anything to the model but it was a good object lesson on brass work if nothing else. I also made pioneer tool clamps rather than rely on the plastic lumps the kit relies on. Next post I should have the ground work to show you. Cheers Simon

Looks good and the extra touches will really show once the paint is on.

Hello Simon, Love your work mate! It's going together nicely (and fast too ) and the extra details you are adding are going to really nake this stand out You shouldn't doubt as to how much your extra work is going to add to the model. There will just be no comparing the finished result to the original base kit Woody...

Cheers gents, hopefully I'll get the base loaded up later today, got a couple of dogs to bath first, smelly horrible things.

Re: Italeri Sd. Kfz 232 6 RAD
OK the dogs are clean (for now) so I'll post the ground work pictures. The base is an old photo frame built up with polystyrene packing, covered with wall filler from the pound shop. The road is painstakingly made up from lentils, laid one at a time on to fairly thick white glue, then when dry the whole is grouted with a wet mix of filler and white glue. The rocks are Das Pronto, textured with a sculpting tool and an old toothbrush. I made the wall at the back from thin MDF, creating the bricks with Fimo and the back with more filler. The cap stones are more Fimo made in a small jig, two McD's coffee stirrers glued close together on a spare piece of MDF, the Fimo is then jammed into the gap, trimmed, shaped and baked before being taken out and glued in place. All the grass is a mix of dried rolling tobacco and flock, airbrushed various greens and browns, the longer tufts are from an old shaving brush, again airbrushed. All the other bits of vegetation are from the garden, often mixed with damp used tea leaves. OK enough waffle, here's the pictures; This is presented almost finished as I didn't have the camera while it was being done, same as for the vehicle itself and the figures which I hope to post tomorrow all things being well. Cheers Simon
