Post Revell Jaguar 1 Dio
A couple of pics of another of my current projects, the Revell Jaguar 1 which I'm putting in a dio using this picture as inspiration:

Image

And here's where we are so far. The suspension has been modified to allow for the upwards movement of the wheel and tracks - like Chris Smith in his blog of this kit, I'm using the kit's vinyl tracks as I can't really be bothered with the hassle of correcting them. The kit's crew hatches will also need to be modified as they are designed to be closed. The inner faces of the wheels have n detail at all although a good coating of mud should be enough to hide things...

Great start John and excellent work on the positioning of the running gear -- it looks just like the photo :)

Cheers,
Ian

Post Re: Revell Jaguar 1 Dio
Thanks gents.

As I mentioned, the driver and loaders(?) hatch need to be opened. Problem was that the hatches and hinges are moulded as a single piece so I glued both hatches in place taking care to ensure that the glue was only applied to either end of the hinge assembly. Once set, I cut out the centre section of hinge, including the hatch, 'opened' the hatch and then glued it back into position so we now have open hatches. The commanders hatch is still not fixed as I don't know if, when open, it sits right back onto the top of the hull (as it is in the pic below) or whether it sits horizontally...

In the original pic the missile tube appears to be lowered so I've not fitted it which, if nothing else avoids having to place the large decal that Chris mentions in his blog. Once thing missing at the moment is the machine gun - in the kit it comes as two halves but, unfortunately, the entire front end of one of the halves was missing from the kit so I need to try and find an alternative...

Nice start for the dio John.
To my knowledge the commander's hatch is first raised then pivots and so stays horizontal.

Here is a link with nice in action pics but with no real clue about the hatch position issue.

Thanks Olivier,

As there is a lack of photos to show either way, I've gone with your suggestion and raised and pivoted the commanders hatch.
