Post Alpine Figures
Been painting a couple of Alpine figures for somebody. Since they're resin and quite nicely moulded to begin with, there's not a lot of preparatory work I can do to these, although I did find cuffs, coat hems and various othert details that needed re-scribing, aloing with some seams that needed to be removed.

Anyway...here's the two figures painted, with a coat of satin. The heads, which are nearly done, will be seen once the figures are complete. Doing close-up work with a powerful lens really does illustrate that the quality, although good, doesn't quite match up to Hornet heads, which I much prefer. Strangely...I prefer injection moulded heads to these too, although IM heads are of much poorer quality, they are a lot easier to 'imporve' to what I want, whilst resin is quite difficult to work with in terms of scraping with the tip of a scalpel blade, tending to crumble a little.

I tried several things whilst trying to replicate the tiny almost random pattern of pin stripes on this scheme, and always ended up removing them. The problem I think, is that I'm not completely convinced that they would even be visible at this scale. The painted examples of this figure on the Alpine website have them, but they're over-scale.

Finished pics next, thanks for looking.

You've cracked the splinter camo - lovely work :D
I agree the "Strich" are just not going to be visible at 1/35 and I feel everything that people try looks overscale.
Looks great as it is - the satin varnish is always an act of faith ;)

Thanks Rob, Darion.

Rob, I've an idea how to maybe get it to scale, but it involves using using I don't have, so I'll leave it for now, but may come back to it later.

Great work, Vinnie.
I'll be watching closely how you deal with the white snow camo suit - I've got a few figures on the go at the moment, that are all dressed in winter camo (white).

Watching with much interest
Cheers for now
Mike

I've er....jumped slightly with these. Mainly because I've others being built that aren't being blogged, more on these later.

Anyway...they're finished now, the owner wanting them clean shaven. :)

They look great, Vinnie.
Did you add the darker shading on the white areas using your usual pigment method?

Cheers for now

Hi Mike,
yep exactly the same as usual. Applied gently with a brush over a matt surface.
