|Western Canadian Regional Model Contest|
Rod Dumouchel's makes his debut and becomes a contributor!
The 17th Annual Western Canadian Regional Model Contest was held on June 2nd 2012, and this years contest marked a number of firsts for the show; this was the first time the show was not hosted by the Rocky Mountain Model Club but instead the Edmonton IPMS chapter, and it was also the first time it was not held in the Calgary Area but instead at the Alberta Aviation Museum in Edmonton.
The show was considered a great success with over 400 entries to the contest, guest presenters Brett Green (editor Tamiya Model Magazine, and Military Illustrated) and Spencer Pollard (Military In Scale). Each presented two seminars that where very well received indeed.
Illustrators and Artists Ron Volstad, Robert Bailey, and Len Krenzier each had tables set up and some of their artwork for sale too. There were a number of great deals to be had at the various vendor tables. John from Formations was one of the vendors in attendance, and it was great to put a face to the name! John had the cast hull M3 Lee available for the show and is now working on bringing some other favorite Formation products back into production.
Next Year’s show will be hosted by the RMMC club so keep an eye on the website for details as I'm sure it will be a great show. I know I’ll be there!
Results and pictures should be up on their website linked to below, in the next couple of weeks.
Here are a few of my favourites from the show. I apologise for not knowing the various modellers names etc., but they will be listed when the results are posted on the Western Canadian Regional Model Contest Site, again linked to above.
This 1/48th scale DC3 diorama I thought was very good.....
This 1/24th scale Bed truck brought back memories of my first job in the oil patch. I swamped (assistant driver) on one very similar to this back in the late 1970’s...
I also liked this 1/35th scale BMW...
Below are a selection of photographs from the show, apologies for their size etc., but I'm still learning as regards photography!
You can see the rest of the photos I took on my Photobucket album:
