There are two new sets of heads released from Hornet!
![]() Heads w/Soviet Officer's Caps Manufacturer: Hornet Scale: 1/35 Material: Resin Serial Number: HRH07 Price: Around £7
Introduction No introduction necessary....they're Hornet and the industry standard for quality replacement heads. This set of five replacement heads are one of two new releases from Hornet, the other set coming up soon!
The Set The set arrives in the normal small plastic bag stapled to a cardboard header. Each of the five heads in the set are also supplied still attached to its pouring block at the base of their neck. Cast in a pale grey resin, that isn't too brittle, with no air bubbles whatsoever that I've caught, even on taking extreme close up pictures of each individual head. The number of each of the heads, 1 to 5 is moulded into the pouring block along with the set number for easy identification should you need it.
The five heads are all very different in character and expression. Three of them are fairly neutral, whilst one shows surprise, and another is frowning. All five are wearing Officer's peaked caps with front band and enamel star, apart from figure 4 that has no band. The large brass buttons holding the band at either side would have ben embossed with a star...I've looked but can't see one, but to be honest at this scale it would not be possible to see it anyway!
Three of the heads are sculpted with eyes where the whites would be visible, which makes painting a little more difficult...at least the way I paint them it does! The one with the largest eyes has tiny pupils engraved into their centres....which now makes it easier....swings and roundabouts! Head number three with the expression of surprise. Also has his mouth wide open and top teeth visible.
Conclusion Absolutely brilliant set of replacement heads. Roger continues to amaze me with his skill...these are simply the best of the best that are available. No other resin manufacturer even comes close. Highly recommended.
My Thanks to Roger Saunders of Hornet for the review sample!
